Core aeration is an important part of any healthy, thick lawn. An aeration machine is used to extract cores of sod and soil. Those plugs are then left on the lawn so their beneficial microorganisms will help break down thatch. The process helps water, fertilizer, organic matter, and oxygen reach the root system. It’s recommended for all warm-season grasses (Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede). We recommend core aeration one or two times each season. Bermuda, Zoysia, and Centipede grass are especially sensitive to aeration and respond well to treatment(s).
